We first heard this clock in a hotel dining room in Venice, Italy while on vacation in May. Thinking it was the "Audubon" version, we ordered one of those; Same company, same great setup, but different birds. But we wanted the robin, bluejay, etc that were on the "Original", so when that reissue hit Amazon we ordered it too. We have both now in 8" size, very convenient, one on the wall, one using its stand on a desk, time set about 15 seconds apart, so when the Original finishes, the Audubon starts chirping (our only complaint on the clocks is that we would have liked the birds to sing a bit longer). Many of the birds are native to our area (NC), which is an added pleasure, and they sound exactly the same. The darkness silencer was a great idea, although frankly I wouldn't mind hearing the birds while in bed (would sure beat getting woken up by our yard resident bluebird who attacks his image in our bedroom window most mornings!)... I have 2 cockatiels myself and since then I've become even more of a fan of birds.The cardinal is my favorite and when I found this clock and found out it makes bird noises every hour, I thought it was adorable. It isn't too loud and it's a perfect size. It's much easier to keep track of the hours with this clock and it's very nice hearing a different bird every 60 minutes. Worried about being woken up? Don't worry because it the sound turns off when you turn off the lights in the room. |
