Therefore, I was absolutely ELATED to discover the sweeping hand clock. I was cautiously optimistic to buy this clock, just sure that it would make SOME type of humming or buzzing noise, but when I installed the battery, hung it on the wall, and sat back to listen, I was thrilled to hear NOTHING!!! It is absolutely SILENT and in a word, PERFECT. The black numbers on the white face make it easy to read at a distance, and I'm able to sit and sleep in the same room with this clock without wanting to throw it out a window. This is the only type of clock I will own. I found the price VERY reasonable, if not for the clock itself, then for the joy of having an analog clock that doesn't tick.
