I'm handy with a soldering iron and was able to re-strip the wires, solder everything back in place, and re-mount the speaker, but beware if you don't own such tools or aren't skilled with electronics. The item was packed well, so I can only assume this happened due to shoddy craftsmanship. There was barely enough wire exposed to make contact with the soldering points, which leads me to believe it probably barely worked out of the factory.There are some inaccuracies in the description for this product that should be outlined: - The clock is in no way silent. It plays a very loud song on the hour that can be heard throughout my small house, sometimes quite long. This isn't necessarily a bad thing (it even switches between a handful of different songs), but the description states it doesn't make sounds. HOWEVER, no music is played when it's dark... First off, the seems to be almost completely plastic. Would probably be a bit more durable if it was made from a resin, hard plastic or a wood. Secondly, this product DOES make sounds on every hour, however, there is a light sensor so it doesn't go off when it is dark. The speaker doesn't even fit in the space provided for it. The item as a whole seems very poorly built and the sad part is this is the only vendor that carries this item, so between the much too high shipping cost (mine was over $13 through amazon). And the item itself, it cost me nearly $50 for something most people would not consider worth it. That said, if it is nt being handled much, it is very pleasant to view on the wall and t made my wife & son happy. |
