I wanted something that would be big enough to fit the space on an otherwise blank wall but not so big as to be overwhelming. The clock with frame is 14" but the clock face itself is about 12" so it really is perfect for my 12ft long wall. The backround face is very attractive giving it an early American feel but not overdone. The hands are just right for this size clock and the glass cover does not give off any unwanted glare that I could see. The brown frame looks like real wood but is plastic which is fine. Attaching it to the wall was easy using the provided hole that you rest on a screw or nail. To me, the clicking of the clock is just right, audible if you're listening for it from a few feet away but not too loud to interfere with talking or watching TV. My only complaint was trying to insert a AA battery. I'm not sure if some AA batteries are...
