Just as advertised, it is completely silent. I bought it for my family room as my wife gets very annoyed by ticking and other rhythmic noises. I got the seal of approval from her, so I know it works (she's even considering buying one for her bathroom). The only thing I would criticize is that the silver trim on the inside and outside of the frame is very glossy and shiny (it's kind of hard to see in the Amazon photo). I would have preferred it be more of a matte finish, but it's a very minor complaint. Overall, the clock looks nice with easy to read numbers.
