Customer Video Review Length:: 0:48 MinsThis is a really great inexpensive replica of the George Nelson ball clock. Would definitely recommend. We have put it in a prominent place in our home. I don't think it looks too cheap. I am sure the $100 replicas and the $500 originals look better, but this one will work just fine for $14.99. The Hipster Spies With His Mystic Eye, Something That Begins With--Arrived broken, By The Mystic Eye Of The Hipster (Murfreesboro, TN United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Lexington Modern Ball Clock (Misc.) This clock arrived broken, and was made of very, very shoddy materials. Weak plastic predominates, & a clock's hands should not swing free & loosely. The Hipster gives this a Thumbs Down. Comically cheap, didn't work & ticked very loudly, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Lexington Modern Ball Clock (Misc.) I knew that this was not going to be a high quality replica, but I was hoping that it would at least work. It is sooooo cheaply made - you'd be better off buying a cheap "clock kit" pair of hands and making the clock yourself. If you painted some styrofoam balls and stuck them on the ends of some chop sticks tied in the center with some wire, you'd have a better quality clock. A little silver spray paint and you'd be all set. The metal hands are so incredibly thin and the clock mechanism is so cheap that the hands just "dangled" right out of the box. With a little finagling, I managed to position the hands so that they worked a little, but not for long. (It was 6:30 all day ;) Even if it had worked and been of slightly-higher quality, I probably would've sent it back anyway because it ticks very loudly. Not that I expected it to be silent, but it could clearly be heard two rooms away with the TV on. Thank goodness for Amazon's free shipping and liberal return policy! |
