Even then you don't really know what you have until you get it. I wish there was a universal description for quiet clocks, as in "quiet sweep action" or "very faint tick" or "standard loud tick".Plus some reviewers aren't helpful because some don't know they're half deaf! Because of what I've done for a living (recording engineer who doesn't use really loud speakers), my hearing and sense of detail is reliable. I can hear a wristwatch alarm in a room almost to the opposite end of the house from where I am. I say all this as I really can't stand listening to "tick tock" while I'm focusing on work, I find it irritatingly distracting. I needed something for the kitchen with a design that was reasonably appropriate. Sometimes I have to use the kitchen table as a workspace. This has a silvery bezel, black face and the hands and numerals are very... Read more 18 of 20 people found the following review helpful Still In the Dark - Wait! I See the Light., By Mister Mash (Beavercreek, OH United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Seiko Wall Clock Silver-Tone Metallic Case Luminous Numerals (Watch) This clock does not glow in the dark in the least. I exposed it to direct sunlight for two straight days hoping that would somehow "energize" the florescence. It did glow at noon when tested in the bathroom, but by night when I went to hang in on the wall: nothing. Keeps time fine, but I could have paid less if I only wanted a simple clock. Will be returning this to Amazon for credit. As I was preparing this for shipping, I thought I would see if perhaps the AA battery which came with the clock would make a difference. I found it was not a simple AA, but an "R6+AA" battery from Panasonic. I then did the closed bathroom door test and the clock is very bright, working as I had hoped. So, I am now keeping the clock and recommending others to buy it. Just be sure to use the battery that comes with the clock. To fair to myself, the brief instructions from Seiko do not specificy this unique battery is required. I may be revising my review once more if I can never find an "R6+AA"... Good quality and I could see it in the dark. Unlike the other reviewer said though this does "charge" with light because I covered half of it once and that part didn't glow. I am pretty sure they use regular AA batteries as well, although I used the provided ones. Would buy again. |
